Springy lace beanies are here!

Fabulous news! For those of you who want warm-weather hats, they are on their way - some are even here! I've just added the first of my new lace beanies to my Etsy shop, with more to come in the next couple of days. I'm also planning to work up some lovely little lotus flower pins to match them, so stay tuned.

Speaking of staying tuned, I have taken the plunge and joined Twitter. Feel free to follow me for all the latest news!

Fashion Show Hat #3

I'm on a roll here with these fashion show pieces. Today's accomplishment is a green alpaca/angora beanie worked up in lotus flower and shell motifs, accented with a pink mohair lotus flower pin. It is luxurious!

For those of you who are local and haven't heard yet, my hats and gloves will be part of a local artisans' fashion show at Alabaster's ARTS & Tea in Pottstown, PA on Saturday, May 9 from 5-7:00 p.m. Tickets are $24.95 each and include a high tea buffet of delicious food, exquisite loose leaf teas, and the best scones in Montgomery County. Seating is limited, so reserve now! For more information, you can call 484-949-8165 or look up the event "Garden ParTea" on Facebook.

And for those of you who are not local or cannot make it to the show, whatever hats do not sell at the fashion show will be put up in my Etsy shop immediately following.

Fashion Show Hat #2

It's been a productive day so far! This is the second hat I have completed for the fashion show, the Mim: Shell Bucket Hat. I constructed it from white cotton yarn and wove a green ribbon around it for added security and a touch of pretty. Today's weather is gloomy and therefore the light isn't the best for picture taking, but I'm including a photo anyway. Enjoy!

On a slightly seperate note, I've decided that all of my bucket hats will be named "Mim" and all of my berets will be "Millie" after my two grandmothers.

Fashion Show hat #1

Finally finished my first hat for the fashion show in May - the rest are still in the works. I took it to Alabaster's today so they can use it to help promote the show. This is a black Merino wool felted bucket hat with a cream mohair rosette, vintage black and white cameo pin, and vintage black feather.

Happy Easter!

And Happy Passover to my friends who celebrated it this past week.

Still working, working, working. I tallied it up, and I have at least a dozen hats I need to make in the next few weeks, mostly for the fashion show at Alabaster's ARTS & Tea at the beginning of May. Will try to post pictures as I go along.

Meantime, there is a poll on the lefthand side of this blog and I would love it if you would give your opinion! You're allowed to pick more than one option (I know I'd pick them all).

What I did on my crochet vacation

Well, I was pretty good about the break thing... I only crocheted once! I started what I am referring to as my "Salmon Bucket Hat" using wool dyed by my friend Donna (see image below). It's a gorgeous, bright color with slight variations of pink and orange for a nice salmon-y look. Right now I'm only as far as the crown, but I can't wait to finish and felt it up. It's going to be super cute!

my non-crochet project, intended to give my hands a break. special thanks to Stephanie at The Daily Pretty for selling me the fabulous dress form!

Ready, set, break

Just spent the past half hour or so decluttering and organizing my workspace (aka our dining room). It looks and feels so much better now!

Taking a short break from crochet in general as my hands are really starting to hurt... though I can't stay away for long and will probably start in on the hats again in the next couple of days.  I have some truly wonderful ideas in my head for summer hats as well as fashion show and even bridal headpieces.  I'm thinking about getting a table at the outside farmer's/local business/crafter's market in Pottstown in a couple of weeks, so I'll need some pieces for that as well.  If I can find a friend to clean my house I think I'll have enough time to get it all done...  What was I saying about a break?

Some works in progress.  Sorry for the blur - that's what happens when I drink coffee and then take pictures.

Some pics from this afternoon's photo shoot. Laura's so cute.

It's a rainy day here in small-town Pennsylvania.  I just returned from sending out my very first order and I hope it reaches its destination dry!  I love the hats that my customer ordered: the Vilma Cloche in black and my soft and supple Green Beret (a personal favorite).  I really want her to enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.

My dining room has been hat central for the past few weeks, what with preparing items for the shop in Avalon and creating new designs for the fashion show in May.  Today I think I will give myself a break and work on my green spring sweater.  I found the most delicate hemp/cotton/modal blend yarn and it is working up beautifully.

I also found a willing hand model for my lace gloves, so, assuming I can find my umbrella, I'll be heading out into the wet a little later to do a photo shoot...  check my shop soon for updated pictures!
